Project Overview:

Educational support to orphaned children, aged 13-23, who have lost Single or both parents/ Bread Earner due to Corona and another illness within the six clusters of Pune Municipal Corporation.

Key Activities:

  • Offering educational assistance and allied resources to 132 orphaned children from 92 households (age group-13-23) who were affected by loss of single or both parents/ bread earners
  • Engaging parents and children in behavior change communication to emphasize the importance of consistent education and long-term learning continuity.

Major Outcomes and Impact:

  • Uninterrupted educational opportunities for 132 orphaned children age group-13-23) by helping them stay on track with their studies and achieve their academic goals.
  • Promoting positive behavior changes among parents and children to ensure a sustained commitment to the children’s education, despite the emotional and financial challenges due to pandemic and other illness.


Project Name: Project Phoenix

Project Duration:

Geographical Area of Activities:

The project was implemented in Shahapur and Murbad of Thane District, Shirur Block of Pune District, and the semi-urban areas of Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Thane and Sangli.

Project Overview:

Project Phoenix aimed to provide support to families affected during COVID 19 Pandemic with specific focus on empowering women through education, skill training, and livelihood opportunities.

Key Activities:

  1. Data Collection:
    • Collected data from 185 families in Shahapur and Murbad (Thane District), Shirur Block (Pune District), and the semi-urban areas of Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, Thane, and Sangli.
  2. Financial Support:
    • Provided financial support to affected families, focusing on education, skill training, and livelihood opportunities, especially for women to enable sustainable income generation.
  3. Follow-up and Mentoring Visits:
    • Conducted follow-up visits and offered mentoring/handholding to the affected families, ensuring ongoing support and guidance.

Major Outcomes and Impact:

  • Supported 128 women beneficiaries from 85 affected families, providing assistance in education, skill training, and livelihood opportunities.

Project Name: Project Maharashtra Alliance Young Adults (MAYA)

Project Duration:

  • March 2021 – March 2024

Geographical Area of Activities:

Palghar District, Maharashtra

Project Overview:

The MAYA Project focuses on supporting young adult orphans (YAOs) in Palghar District, by providing essential services and opportunities to empower them for a better future. The project aims to address the needs of orphans transitioning out of child care institutions and guide them toward independent living.

Key Activities:

  1. Approval and Co-ordination:
    • Obtained necessary approvals from state and district authorities for project implementation
  2. Institutional Visits:
    • Conducted visits to Child Care Institutions to assess and collect data on young adult orphans.
  3. Data Collection and Analysis:
    • Collected and analyzed data to identify deserving young adults (YAOs) in need of support.
  4. Home Visits:
    • Conducted home visits for follow up and review as a part of personalized support.

Major Outcomes and Impact:

  • Provided comprehensive support in areas such as group housing, health, education, and skills training to 39 young adult orphans during 2021-2023,
  • Smooth transition from institutional living to independent adulthood.

Project Name: Educational Support for Non-Institutionalized Children in Palghar District

Project Duration:

  • April 2023 – February 2025

Geographical Area of Activities:

Vikramgad, Wada, Jawhar, Dahanu, Palghar, Vasai, and Talasari blocks of Palghar District, Maharashtra

Project Overview:

This project aims to provide educational support to non-institutionalized children aged 13-17 from Palghar District, particularly those who have lost one or both parents due to COVID-19.

Key Activities:

  • Mapping and Data Collection:
    • Mapped and identified 109 children from 40 households who are in need of educational support.
  • Educational Support:
    • Provided educational support to 102 non-institutionalized children (age group 13-17) from the identified blocks in Palghar District.

Major Outcomes and Impact:

  • Avaling necessary educational assistance to 287 children from 161 households covering 7 blocks of Palghar District .
  • Support to 102 non-institutionalized children, ensuring continuity in their education and helping them achieve their academic goals despite the challenges posed by the pandemic.
